Islington Public Library used as a hospital ward. Photograph by Langfier Ltd., 1916. This is Ward B2, Library Extension Sept. 1916. A semicircular or circular reading room, in which, as a wartime expediency, hospital beds have been placed in a radial pattern around the periphery. In the centre, a group of seated patients, some of them with military or naval caps.
