Members of the American Expeditionary Force salute as the American National Anthem is played. The American Expeditionary Force under the command of General Pershing, who is standing in the front of the main body to the right, were sent to Europe soon after America entered the War in April 1917. Admiral Ronach and General Beltier were both there to greet General Pershing and the American Expeditionary Force.

Original reads: ‘OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT. Saluting as the French Band plays the American National Anthem.’
