From Space to Place

This theme explores the spatial interpretation of the War. The geography of places and and redrawing borders, cities of the living and cities of the dead, how empty space became urban place when military settlements were constructed. The use of uninhabitable space – sea, earth, and air for military activity. How did buildings change their purpose and meaning in war time and the invention of the ‘home front’.
