Arras : Before and After

Arras was part of the front line for a large period of the war. Although we focus on Arras in 1917, it was also a site of a battle in 1915 and 1918. As such the town had already suffered tremendous damage before the battle in 1917. However, many of the villages around Arras, many of which were fought over in 1917, took considerable damage.

We’ve taken some German Army pictures from the area, to show how the area around Arras was affected by the war. This resource is available as a Google Earth KML file. Download Google Earth and open the file.
